Keeping the interior of your car clean and tidy is a whole new challenge when you have a family.  The frightening sight of crumbs on the seats, empty wrappers and bottles in the foot wells, and of course, those delightful, hidden surprises found stuffed down the side of seats can be enough to send the calmest parents crazy.

If keeping on top of cleaning your car is an uphill battle, here are our hints and tips on how to take control without having to regularly visit your local valet…

1.        Invest in a handheld vacuum cleaner

For those places where your ordinary vacuum cleaner just can’t reach, these handy devices are perfect for cleaning the car. Our Kobold VC100 handheld vacuum cleaner is ideal when freshening up the interior of your car. It gives you flexibility and ease when trying to get into the smaller spaces of your car.

2.        Use a brush to remove stubborn dust

With your vacuum cleaner in one hand, and a brush in the other, you can efficiently clean out your air vents, dashboard and door compartments with minimal effort.

3.        Keep a pack of disinfectant cleaning wipes in the glove box

Footprints on the back of seats and melted chocolate on furnishings are inevitable when you have the little ones in the car. Ensuring you have a pack of wipes with you at all times will allow you to clean as you go.

4.        Clean your car windows like you would clean your house windows

Yes, we’re still talking about the interior of your car, but as every parent knows, those sticky little finger leave marks on our windows!

5.       Once they’re clean, keep your seats smelling fresh

As you would with soft furnishings in your home, your car seats probably need a little freshen up with some baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda over your seats and leave it to work for up to thirty minutes, then vacuum away to leave them smelling fresh.

Cleaning the interior of your car shouldn’t be hard work. We might tend to focus on the outside, but cleaning the interior regularly with the tips above will make it seem less of a challenge.
